Supportive Care Unit
The Supportive Care Unit (SCU) is operating from 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, to support patients registered at the Oncology Center and are in need of immediate medical attention.
Chemotherapy side effects are treated here, such as thrombocytopenia, neutropenia and gastrointestinal and electrolyte disturbances and radiotherapy side effects such as stomatitis, pain, etc. Short-term relief for dyspnoea, dehydration and cachexia, is provided.
The Oncology Centre does NOT have an Emergency Department.
If you are experiencing an urgent health situation, not related to oncology, e.g. cardiac or orthopedic condition, you should contact either the Emergency Department of your city's General Hospital or the private sector.
For your convenience, please have your Registration Card always with you. For your admission, you must pay the registration fee and at the reception area, at the main entrance.
Upon arrival at SCU, you should give your details to the receptionist to record your presence. Your condition will then be evaluated by the nursing staff and will be given a priority order, depending on the severity of your situation. After examination, the SCU doctor will decide on the appropriate management of your symptoms.
Guests are requested to remain in the department's waiting area until patient treatment is completed.
